Super Eagles winger Samuel Kalu has been certified to be in better and ‘stabilised’ condition after he collapsed during training on Friday. Nigeria will play their opening AFCON 2019 match against Burundi on Saturday.
Kalu was said to have collapsed as he tried to take a corner-kick in a training session in Alexandria, and was immediately rushed to the hospital.
Extrasportsnigeria.com was told by the team’s Media Officer Toyin Ibitoye that the Bordeaux attacker was “now in stable condition” while they await the doctor’s report to actually explained what went wrong.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) communications director Ademola Olajire also confirmed the state of things.
“I have been told Samuel Kalu has been stabilised. He was taken to hospital for tests and he is certified okay. He was dehydrated, they said. Told him he needs to be taking enough fluids,” Olaajire said.
