The Kano State government has paid out the outstanding 11-match bonuses of players and officials of Kano Pillars ahead of their AIiteo Cup final against Enugu Rangers on Wednesday.
The final game is billed for the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State.
Pillars Spokesperson Idris Malikawa, confirmed the payment on Friday. He said that the payment has lit up the camp of the team and added that the players have resolved to pay back the gesture with victory against Rangers International.
Malikawa said, “It’s a big boost for the team as we prepare for the Aiteo Cup final against Enugu Rangers on Wednesday. All the allowances and bonuses owed the team amounting to about N7 million have been cleared and no one is owed in the club now.”
Unlike their opponents, the Pillars are yet to win the FA Cup.
Extrasportsnigeria.com gathered that the Nigeria Football Federation officials have expressed their determination to make the Aiteo Cup final as carnival-like as possible. The Asaba venue was a huge success with fans during the African Athletics Championship held last April. Rangers and Pillars are known for huge fans following in Nigeria.
The cup winners will represent Nigeria in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup.
