The management of Nigeria professional league side Akwa United has announced that plans have been concluded to sign off Dana Airlines as the official airline of foremost Nigeria club.
A release by Mfon Patrick, Media Officer of Akwa United confirmed the deal will be formalised on Friday February 2 in the conference hall of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, the Nest of Champions.
Though the details of the partnership were not revealed as press time, Patrick quoted Club Chairman Mr Paul Bassey as saying it was “a worthwhile venture that will be beneficial to both parties.”
Bassey added, “In choosing to partner with Akwa United, Dana has not only shown respect to an operation base (Uyo) that has been very rewarding business wise, but has also identified a club that is most likely to better propagate its services.”
Many Nigerian clubs travel across the vast country by roads playing by weekend and midweek. The airline deal will reduce stress for the players especially as they honour matches in far flung places like Kano and Maiduguri in the northern part of Nigeria from their South-south base of Uyo.
