Algeria forward Youcef Belaili has said his team is determined to advance to the final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations beating Nigeria in the process.
Nigeria and Algeria will clash at 8pm Nigerian time on Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium.
The Esperance of Tunisia striker stated that the Desert Foxes are determined to make their fans happy with a win over the Super Eagles.
He told reporters in Cairo, “We have reached the semi finals and hope to do our best to go to the final and make our people happy.
“When you get to the semi finals, you do not think about whether the opponent is a great team or not. You seek to face the best. We are determined to win and to go to the final.”
The Super Eagles defeated South Africa 2-1 in the quarterfinal before the Algerians defeated the Elephants of Ivory Coast in a penalty shootout. The game had ended 1-1 after 120 minutes.
Analysts think Nigerians have some advantage having rested for a full day more than their opponents who also had to play extra time.
“Of course, it will affect the game, but we recovered well with the help of the medical staff,” Belaili said.
