Ambode is God-sent to the ladies – Falode

The Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League, Aisha Falode, has described the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode as God-sent, for his sponsorship of the first ever Women’s Champions Shield in Nigeria.

Falode, noted that Ambode’s contribution to the development of women football and the emancipation of the women’s folks in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole using the Nigeria Women Football League as a pivot is quite commendable.

On Monday she said, “On behalf of the board of the NWFL and entire women’s footballers in Nigeria, we say a very big thank you to the Governor for his magnanimity. We are highly honoured as he gave us the opportunity to make history as the first board of the NWFL to play a Women’s Champion’s Shield since the beginning of organised football in Nigeria.

“We were also humbled by the presence of the First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, who was represented by Mrs. Abosede Yinka-Ogundinmu.”

She added that, the overwhelming success of the Champion’s Shield would go a long way in helping the NWFL get full sponsorship for the Premier League and other competitions of the League board.

“We knew the event was going to be grand but never envisaged the extent of successes recorded. Henceforth, we shall be operating on a bigger pedestal.”

Falode, also expressed gratitude to the media for the extensive coverage of the NWFL Champion’s Shield.
