Nigeria’s men basketball team D’Tigers again lost their Commonwealth Games group game with a very large margin, Extrasportsnigeria.com reports. Nigeria lost 97-55 to Australia at the in their last group game played on Monday. This follows to the first two loses to New Zealand and Canada at 110-65 and 82-67 respectively.
D’tigers expectedly struggled to cope against the Australians were already down 23-17 at the end of the first quarter. Nigeria went a further 29 points behind as the second quarter ended 62-33 in favour of the Australians. The gap continued to build up as Australia closed in on another win as the scores were 76-41 at the end of third quarter. The fall continued except that unlike the opening match against New Zealand, the Australians did not hit the Century score mark.
D’Tigers, will play now play their Scottish counterparts on Tuesday 11am Nigerian time in one of the qualifying finals of the Commonwealth basketball games.
The winner between two countries pulls through to the semi finals. The Games qualifying pattern is unique as the four top ranked teams were placed in a group and could play the qualifiers from the other group to secure a semi final place.
