D’Tigress maul Tunisian ladies 75-26

Nigeria’s women basketball team D’Tigress defeated Tunisia 75-26 Saturday morning in Dakar, Senegal as the 2019 AfroBasket for Women tipped off.

The Nigerian ladies began their title defence in a very massive fashion winning the opening quarter 14-26 and the following quarter 26-4. The third and fourth quarters ended as 17-5 and 18-11 and this point the match had been won and lost.

Tigress forward Evelyn Akhator scored a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. She added 3 steals and 2 assists. Atonye Nyingifa had hit points.

The Nigerians won the cup in Mali in 2017 winning all their eight matches with Coach Sam Vincent. Hughley Otis now leads the side after his debut with the 2018 World Cup quality outing.
