Super Eagles stars are billed to arrive in Nigeria via Abuja on Friday without Elderson Echiejile who is billed to wed his fiancé on Saturday in Paris. The Monaco defender and his partner had already gone through the traditional part in Nigeria earlier on, Extrasportsnigeria.com reports.
The rest of the squad are expected to train in Abuja on Monday and fly off to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Tuesday.
The Nigeria Football Federation’s Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, confirmed the itinerary of the players who defeated Togo 3-0 on Thursday in a friendly match played in Paris.
Olajire said on Thursday, “Echiejile is having his wedding on Saturday in Paris. But the rest of the team will fly into Nigeria tomorrow (Friday) by Air France. The team will train in Abuja on Monday and travel to Uyo on Tuesday. Echiejile is to join team on Sunday.”
But Echiejile is not the only player arriving in town separately from the rest of the team. Gent winger Moses Simon has said that he will join the squad on Friday in Abuja. Kenneth Omeruo will play a game for Alanyaspor on Saturday before reporting for international duty.
The Eagles will face South Africa in a 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo on Saturday.
