Edo Cycling Tour gets date

The marketing consultant for the Edo Cycling Tour, Neo Media, has announced August 22 to 27, 2018 for the first edition of the five-day cycling extravaganza that will run through that region. The race is expected to attract over 200 cyclists from the 36 states of the federation and Abuja, Extrasportsnigeria.com has learnt.

The CEO of Neo Media, Ehi Braimah who gave the details of the tour in Lagos said that arrival of participants is on August 22; the pre-race meeting by the technical officials will hold on August 23 while the race will be flagged off on Friday, August 24 in Ososo, in Akoko Edo Local Government Area.

Braimah added that Day 2 of the tour will start off at Iyomho, home of former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole while Day-3, which is the last leg of the race will begin in Ekpoma on August 26 and end in Benin, the state capital.

The race will take riders through Igarra, Ibillo, Okpella, Auchi, Fugar Agenebode, Afuze, Otuo, Uzeba, Sabongida Ora, Irrua, Ekpoma, Ehor and end in Benin.

By the lay out, the tour will run through some many local government areas of the state before ending in Benin City. It is also planned to continue in the years to come. The Edo Cycling Tour is building up in the area already exposed to the international community through the Okpekpe International 10km Road race and the cycling tour is expected to add to the gains of the international event.
