EPL: Iwobi beaten, Moses, Ndidi win
Super Eagles attacker Alex Iwobi was in the biggest loser amongst his Nigerian teammates after he and his club Arsenal were beaten at home 3-1 by rivals Manchester United.
Iwobi started on the bench in the United goalkeeper David de Gea made 14 saves. The Manchester team finished the match with 10 men after their high-priced player Paul Pogba earned a straight red card.
In the early kickoff match, Victor Moses played the full 90 minutes as Chelsea beat Newcastle 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. Moses provided Alvaro Morata an assist for his side’s second goal in the 33rd minute, and then also earned a penalty which was converted by Eden Hazard with 16 minutes to the end of the match.
Dwight Gayle had opened the scoring for Newcastle after 12 minutes.
At the King Power Stadium, Leicester City maintained their improved run finishing 1-0 against Burnley. Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi made his 15th straight start in the league but his Eagles teammate Kelechi Iheanacho sat out on the bench all through. The sad story continued for Ahmed Musa even under a new manager as he was not listed in the match day squad.
Demarai Gray scored the only goal in the sixth minute for Leicester.
Isaac Success was not in Watford’s 18-man squad against Tottenham Hotspur on the account of injury. The match ended 1-1.
