FIFA Rankings: Eagles move up, Argentina drop

Super Eagles have climbed five places and now occupy the 47th position following the release of the latest rankings by the football governing body, FIFA, on Thursday, reports.

Eagles are sixth in the African ranking.

Nigeria’s opponents at the group stage of the 2018 World Cup all slid down. Argentina who have suffered defeats in freindlies in recent times are now fifth; Croatia 18th and the Iceland 22nd.

In the world rankings, 2014 World Cup winners Germany still stay at the top. They are followed by Brazil, Belgium and Portugal respectively.

In Africa Tunisia, Senegal and Congo DR are the top three teams. The next teams are World Cup bound teams of Morocco and Egypt.

South Africans who defeated Nigeria in the 2019 African Nations Cup race are placed 72nd.
