Former Super Eagles attacker, Finidi George has pitched his tent with Liverpool to win the June 1st 2019 UEFA Champions League title against Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Ajax star said his prediction isn’t emotional because Tottenham beat his former club, Ajax Amsterdam, but because he reckons that Liverpool deserve the trophy this term.
However, he noted it would have more exciting and satisfactory for him had Ajax made it to the final, considering how they had sent out Madrid and equally formidable favourites, Juventus of Italy in the knock-out stages.
Finidi and another ex-international, Nwankwo Kanu admitted during a radio programme monitored in Lagos that he was disappointed that Ajax could not hold their own against Spurs and linked the fall to inexperience from the youthful team.
Finidi said, “I am sad and disappointed that Ajax could not make it to the final; It was like a nightmare seeing them lose that way.
“The players really gave their best, winning the first leg and even going ahead 2-0 in the second leg, but they lost focus and could not keep their concentration till the end.
“Tottenham deserve the victory, but I want to see Liverpool win the final, because they were there last year and they lost.
“It looks fitting for them if Liverpool win it this time, after losing last year to Real Madrid, especially as they also did well to beat Barcelona.”
