Ghana/Nigeria: Leon Balogun’s jollof rice consolation
Ghana may have thrashed Nigeria 4-1 in the final match of the West African Football Union Cup which ended late Sunday Nigeria defender Leon Balogun has taken solace with his country’s sweet jollof rice menu, Extrasportsnigeria.com reports. The defender insists Nigeria’s “jollof” is better than Ghana’s irrespective of the WAFU Cup result.
In a joke served on Twitter the Nigeria and FSV Mainz 05 defender insisted Nigeria’s jollof rice remains number one over Ghana’s own despite losing heavily to them.
The Super Eagles B suffered the humiliating 4-1 beating at the Cape Coast Stadium. Before the match Balogun took to Twitter to back the Eagles and remind the world of Nigeria’s jollof rice. The centre back returned to his Twitter handle to make the comments and a few reactions a few hours after the final whistle of the game but did remember to congratulate Ghana for winning the West African regional tournament.
He tweeted, “Well, what can I say. Nigeria’s Ghana’s won but our jollof’s still the no 1. Congrats Black Stars, well deserved.”
And responded to some football fans, “@sena_ben I WAS…but I’m a good loser and have no problem with paying respect to the worthy winners. A little rivalry banter never killed nobody.”
