Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo is making his personal brand stronger for a confirmed spot to the World Cup as he scored four goals for Changchun Yatai in the Chinese Super League. The goals came in their 5-2 win over Guizhou Hengfeng at the Guiyang Olympics Sports Centre on Saturday.
The Saturday game has become a huge one for the former Watford attacker as he had failed to score for both club and country in five games. The tall attacker indeed had only managed to score a goal this year in all competitive outings. The drought looked like a carryover from his last days in the English Premier League with Watford.
But against Guizhou Hengfeng he started from the spot in the 24th minute after he was fouled by Fan Yunlong in the box area and then hit more goals in the 38th and 86th minutes to add to Tan Long’s effort. He was also on hand to round off the seven-goal thriller in the third minute of added time.
Du Wei and Wang Fang’s goals were consolatory goals for the hosts.
