Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi completed his move to Everton late Thursday the Toffees official website announced. It is a move that has broken Nigeria’s transfer record.
Despite the Transfer Window having closed for business, the deal was ratified by the Premier League as a deal sheet was submitted before the 1700 hours deadline.
The Nigeria attacker signed a five-year contract, keeping him at Everton until at least June 30, 2024.
Though the financial terms have not been disclosed by the two clubs, the transfer fee Everton paid for Iwobi is said to be at least £35m, making him the most expensive player of Nigerian descent in history.
Iwobi scored fifteen goals in 149 outings for Arsenal across all competitions.
