Kim Kardashian turns sports bra into a party top

After pushing the fashion envelope in New York (wearing vintage Raf Simons, twinning with North in Adidas sport shorts), Kim Kardashian West returned to glamour for Olivier Rousteing’s party in Los Angeles Thursday night according to Vogue.com report.

Kardashian was one of many celebrated guests who toasted the Balmain designer on the opening of the brand’s West Coast boutique and their recent collaboration with Dr. Dre’s Beats headphones. To ring in the festivities, Kardashian West looked like modern day fashion royalty in a heat wave–friendly crop top and embellished Balmain skirt.

The television star has played with different approaches to seductive, yet ladylike dressing, including the cropped cardigan, but last night’s ensemble ushered in a fresh spin with a millennial twist on Cleopatra. The simple sports style top was the ideal, lo-fi foil for Kardashian West’s OTT skirt. The sheer fabric revealed some skin, while an Angelina Jolie, blush-inducing slit offset the highly precious nature. Keeping things simple, Kardashian West eschewed any additional sparkle and grounded her look with lucite heels for a clean finish.
