Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has he is sad and frustrated that he will not be available for Tuesday’s friendly between Nigeria and Serbia at the Hive Stadium due to what he explained as “circumstances beyond his control.”
The former Chelsea star who communicated his feeling via Twitter on Monday afternoon wrote, “Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control I will not be on the field for our game v Serbia tomorrow.
“I am sad, and frustrated, but giving my full support to the team for another WIN!#SoarSuperEagles.”
The Nigeria Football Federation last Wednesday explained that Mikel would be absent from the Friday match against Poland as he was working hard at renewing his work permit in China. At that point it appeared he would be able to make the trip to London for the next game.
But Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr announced after the game against Poland that he had invited Mikel Agu to join the team in London due to absence of Tianjin Teda of China midfielder.
And by Monday it became very clear that Mikel who last played against Argentina in Russia would miss the London game when he was conspicuously absent from the last training session.
