Leicester City have suffered Wilfred Ndidi injury blow. This is coming ahead of their Carabao Cup third round clash against Arsenal at the King Power Stadium in the match billed for Wednesday night.
Ndidi’s injury is also a blow to the Nigerian team as the Super Eagles team continue to suffer more depletion ahead of their international friendlies against Ivory Coast and Tunisia. Both matches are fixed for Austria next month with the team list released through the Nigeria Football Federation just 24 hours ago.
It is understood that Nigerian midfielder was advised by Leicester City medical team to take a break after managing to play with it in the two matches played so far in the league.
Ndidi is expected to go through further tests on Wednesday.
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr is expected to call up a replacement for Ndidi from the list of players put on standby when the list was officially released to the public on Monday.
Nigeria Standby squad: Abdullahi Shehu (Bursaspor, Turkey); Ramon Azeez (Granada CF, Spain); Joshua Maja (Girondins Bordeaux, France); Henry Onyekuru (AS Monaco, France); Tyronne Ebuehi (FC Twente, Netherlands).
One of these players will likely replace Ndidi.
