The Nigeria Boxing Federation has invited boxers from all states, clubs of the federation, and the Federal Capital Territory , to the National Open Trials slated to hold from the 6th to 9th December, at the Brai Ayonote Boxing Gymnasium, National Stadium, Lagos.
The Open Trials is to enable the Federation select the 32 Boxers in the 56kg, 60kg, 75kg and 81kg for male, and 51kg, 60kg, 69kg, 75kg for female weight categories, to represent the country at the XXI Commonwealth Games, billed for Gold Coast from the 4th to 15th April, 2018.
The national federation has directed coaches and boxing administrators in all states to ensure they bring boxers to the trials.
The details of the programme has 6th December as the arrival date while the Technical Meeting/Weigh-In/Medicals/Bouts Preliminaries is billed for 7th December. The quarter and semi finals will hold 8th December.
After the trials, the 32 selected boxers will start close camping on the 17th of December in Lagos.
Officials of the federation confirmed to Extrasportsnigeria.com that all boxers and their coaches are expected to cater for themselves during the trials.
