Nigeria drop 9 places in FIFA Ranking, now 50th

Football governing body, FIFA, on Thursday released its latest ranking of national teams. The report will come as a surprise to many fans of the Super Eagles as Nigeria dropped by nine places to the 50th position.

In spite of a very good run through the World Cup qualifiers staying unbeaten and beating Argentina, Nigeria still dropped from the October ranking. Eagles are 50th in the world and 8th in Africa.

Senegal, Tunisia, Egypt, Congo DR and Morocco are the top five teams in Africa in that order.

The ranking will have no impact on the World Cup group stage draw billed for December 1st in Russia as the October ranking has already been used for the seeding.

In the global ranking, 2014 World Cup champions Germany lead the way followed by Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Belgium.
