Nigeria Triathlon, ExxonMobil partner for schools

Nigeria Triathlon Union (NTU) and Exxon Mobil are determined to develop triathlon at the youth level as they partner to host a clinic and competition for students in public schools.

Nigeria Triathlon officials say the programme will help propagate the sports, which encompasses swimming biking and running. The participants, who will be drawn from public schools, will be taught the basics of the sport with the aim of making the students proficient in the application.

NTU president, Dr Lanre Glover said that the clinic would hold for three days, while the game masters would undergo training for a month before the clinic, assuring that the dates for both events will be announced soon.

He said, “What we intend to do is to train the games masters who will sensitise their students on the event and get them ready for the clinic. We hope that they (games masters) will become NTU’s ambassadors in their various schools and district.”

He commended ExxonMobil for the gesture.
