NWPL Super 4: Sunshine Queens’ defender rally teammates

Sunshine Queens defender, Opeyemi Aiyeniberun, has urged her teammates to believe in their ability to win the Super 4 Competition. The experienced defender believes confidence and hard work can get them the trophy for the first time in their history as a club.

Sunshine Queens came launched out in 2005 but have never won the NWPL title in their 14 years of existence. Now Aiyeniberun feels the team can make history in Lagos by lifting the trophy on the 27th of January at the Agege Stadium.

She said: “We can make history in Lagos, we can. We’ve worked so hard in training and want to make good use of it at the Super 4.

“We have a group of players that are ready to make history. It could be extremely difficult, but we truly want to finish on top. We should have a lot of our fans cheering us up at the Agege Stadium and you know what that means.”

The Owena Mermaids will play the “Restoration Girls” at the Agege Stadium on the 25th of January in the play offs to the final which will be held on Sunday at the same venue.
