Rivers Hoopers beat SLAC for first African league win

Rivers Hoopers of Nigeria defeated S.L.A.C of Guinea 76-75 in nerve wrecking match in the African League, Extrasportsnigeria.com reports. It was the first win the series for the Nigerian basketball representatives who lost their open match to Morocco’s Sale moments after they landed in Morocco.

The Nigerians are now quite hopeful as they need just one more win to make it into the final of the continent’s biggest clubs gathering.

The trio of Emmanuel Balogun, Gbodi Precious and Abdul Yahaya, hit double digit points in a game that many Nigerians heartache.

Hoopers lost the first quarter 19-20; won the second at 25-18; lost the third quarter 15-20 while the last quarter ended at 17-17.

Civil Defenders are the other 2018/2019 representatives for Nigeria.
