Rohr to drop five players after Congo match

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has said he plans to cut his provisional team list after Monday’s friendly against DR Congo, to get a clearer picture of his final squad to the World Cup before they play England at Wembley Stadium, London on June 2.
Rohr stated as such at a press briefing in Uyo on Friday ahead of the friendly against DR Congo in Port Harcourt on Monday.
The German will then be expected to name his final 23-man squad for Russia 2018 a day before the FIFA deadline of June 4, ahead of the team’s final test game against Czech Republic in Austria.
The provisional list has 30 players even though there are 29 players in the camp in Uyo with Chelsea wing back Victor Moses joining the rest of the squad in London. Moses was given an extra one week to rest according to officials of the team.
Nigeria is in the same group with Croatia, Iceland and Argentina at the Russia 2018 World Cup. The campaign opens with Crotia and rounds off with Argentina.
