Super Eagles draw South Africa

Super Eagles of Nigeria have been placed in Group E in the qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations alongside their rivals Bafana Bafana of South Africa following the draw in Gabon on Thursday.

The other teams in the group are Libya and Seychelles in the qualifiers schedule to start in the first quarter of this year.

The setting means another date for the Eagles and a challenging start for the incoming Bafana coach, with the group phase of the qualifiers set to start in June.

Nigerians fans won’t easily forget that South Africa denied Nigeria a place in the qualifiers for the 2015 tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

The top teams in each pool qualify for the 2019 finals in Cameroon, along with the three best runners-up.

A preliminary round has been fixed for March where a winner will be decided in ties between Sao Tome e Principe vs Madagascar; Comoros vs Mauritius and Djibouti vs South Sudan.

The likes of Nigeria and South Africa will join the qualifiers in June. The qualifying series will end in November 2018.
