Nigeria’s Super Falcons continued their preparation for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. The Nigerian ladies recovered from a goal down scored in the 7th minute in the match played on Tuesday to beat Hungarian women’s first division club, Haladas Viktoria 5-1.
Asisat Oshoala scored twice (70 and 72nd minutes but it was Chinwendo Ihezuo who levelled up for Nigeria in the 32nd minute finishing off a fine assist from Ordega. Francisca Ordega, and Ogonna Chukwudi hit the other goals for the Nigerian queens.
Haladas Viktoria took an early lead in the seventh minute before the African champions recovered to end the first half at 1-1.
When the second half began, it waqs Ordega’s powerful header three minutes after the hour mark from Ngozi Okobi’s corner kick that put Nigeria 2-1 ahead.
Coach Thomas Dennerby subbed off the starting line-up, replacing them with Asisat Oshoala, Amarachi Okoronkwo, Chidinma Okeke, Alice Ogebe, Anam Imo, Chinaza Uchendu, Ngozi Ebere, Evelyn Nwabuoku, Ogonna Chukwudi and Uchenna Kanu.
Chukwudi scored the fifth goal for the Falcons off a pass from Anam Imo.
The Falcons will play another friendly before they leave Austria where they are on two-week residential camping.
The Nigerian team will leave for France on Tuesday, 4th June. They will play Norway, Korea Republic and host nation France, respectively in the group phase of the World Cup.
