Nigeria and South Africa qualified for this year’s Under 20 World Cup holding in Poland in May. They got the tickets after winning their final group games at the Africa Cup of Nations in Niger on Friday.
The results also put Nigeria and South Africa into the semi-finals of the event.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles beat hosts Niger 1-0 in Niamey thanks to a 73rd minute strike from Ibrahim Alhassan to reach the semi-finals.
South Africa secured their place with 1-0 win over Burundi at the Stade de Maradi after Luke Le Roux converted a penalty in the 9th minute.
Nigeria finish top of Group A with seven points. South Africa who beat Burundi 1-0 in the other matchday-3 game of Group A are second and advance to the semi-finals and also with a spot at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup
The Amajita will clash with Group B winners Senegal in the semi finals. The Flying Eagles will face the runners up in Group B in the semi- final on the 13th of February.
Ghana and Mali occupy second and third spots in Group B and are both in contention for a second place finish having been tied on the same points.
Senegal were the first team to qualify for the World Cup from Niger 2019 after their 2-0 win over Ghana on Thursday.
The last Group B matches take place on Saturday, with Mali facing Ghana in Niamey and Senegal taking on Burkina Faso in Maradi.
