We need cool heads to beat Nigeria – Zambia coach
Zambian coach, Wedson Nyirenda has said the all-important match against Nigeria requires cool heads from his players backed by strong psychological approach, Extrasportsnigeria.com reports.
The Zambians who lost the first game in Ndola by 2-1 to the Super Eagles will visit Nigeria for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier next Saturday, October 7. Both teams preferably need to win the game to be sure of booking a place at the 2018 World in Russia.
Nyirenda who spoke in Lusaka said he was preparing his players mentally as he expects a tough encounter in Uyo, Nigeria next weekend. Zambia defeated Algeria away in the last fixture to push up their chances of making it to Russia against group leaders Nigeria.
Nyirenda told FAZ website, “This game will be highly psychological; therefore we are working on their mental strength before the match,”
“Every player and everyone on our bench know and believe that this time is our time. God can only show you the fish and it up to you to fish it out. Looking at the way we worked against Algeria home and away it tells a lot of stories. The boys now know and believe it can be done.
“Nigeria is a different team we are not going to be big headed because we beat Algeria we are focused on looking at Nigeria only.”
