Etebo ruled out of Nigeria, Brazil friendly

Nigeria and Stoke City midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is the latest player to pull out of Nigeria’s friendly match billed against the Brazil.

The Nigeria Football Federation announced Etebo’s withdrawal from the game on Thursday.

But in spite of Etebo’s withdrawal, Rohr has opted not to call up any more players. It follows the same pattern after Wednesday’s withdrawal of Torino’s defender Olaoluwa Aina as a result of injury.

Rohr replaced Kenneth Omeruo with Tyronne Ebuehi, while Efosa Solomon-Otabor joined the camp when Samuel Kalu became unavailable.

Solomon-Otabor and forward Peter Olayinka are making their debut while Ebuehi returns for the first time since the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.

Former junior international midfielder Ramon Azeez who has had a steady run in the Spanish League also makes a return and defenders Abdullahi Shehu and Chidozie Awaziem, as well as Wilfred Ndidi are back after missing the 2-2 draw with Ukraine in Dnipro last month.

The game will take place on Sunday at the Singapore National Stadium. Kick-off is 1pm Nigerian time.
