The national U20 football team, the Flying Eagles flew back into Nigeria via Abuja on Thursday afternoon aboard an Ethiopian Airline flight.

Ladan Bosso and his players reached the quarter finals, Nigeria’s first since 2011, but lost to South Korea 1-0 in extra time after the game ended goalless in full time.

Flying Eagles played a total of five matches in this year’s U20 World Cup in Argentina. They won three and lost two. The highlight of their outing in Argentina include beating higher rated Italy in the preliminaries and then bundling out the host Argentina in the second round via a 2-0 win, Exrasportsnigeria, com reports.

The team was originally billed to return on Tuesday.
