Hat trick Odeh targets NPFL goals crown
MFM FC forward, Stephen Odey is excited at scoring the first hat trick of his career and also the first hat trick of the Nigeria Professional Football League this season. Now the striker says he will work very hard to finish the season as the top goals scorer of the league.
He was in good form for the Olukoya Boys who thrashed Lobi Stars 4-0 at the Agege Stadium on Sunday in a Matchday 3 tie.
Odey said on Sunday, “This is the first hat trick of my career, it feels good. I also feel great scoring the first hat trick of the season, and I hope to score more.
He said, “My ambition is to score double figure of goals and our team to be among the top teams in the NPFL. I am glad that I’m leading the goals chart now, hopefully I can finish as the highest goal scorer of the NPFL, but it is too early to discuss that.
“I just want to focus on how to assist my team in the league.
“I feel great because looking up to our fans, many have looked down on us that this match we can’t win because of the loss to IfeanyiUbah, but we have the zeal in us and the team worked to play this game today to surprise our fans and the coach also in particular.
“I have the confidence because my fans told me I can do better than in the first half; they told me I can score more in this second half.
“Well, we are working up to that in our next game and I’m sure that it won’t repeat itself again. I dedicate the goal to my fans, my team mates and the coaching crew as a whole.”
MFM now 4th on the table, next face 12th position Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan on Wednesday.
