Super Eagles and Bursaspor defender William Troost-Ekong and his Nigeria teammate Mikel Agu met with President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Turkey on Thursday, Extrasportsnigeria.com reports.
Both players were part of the guests invited to the 9th D-8 Summit venue to meet with Buhari. Troost-Ekong was born in the Netherlands to a Nigerian father.
He has become a regular for the Eagles starting the last eleven matches for Nigeria. Troost-Ekong was a steady member Nigeria Olympic team that secured the country’s only medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
He also played in the last World Cup qualifying match against Kenya in Uyo this month whose review by the media gave low marks to Agu. The young Agu who was however well spoken of by Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has is proving himself once more on the pitch. He was voted in the country’s Best X1 for the week ended on Sunday. He indeed scored the highest points of all players listed.
