Onazi replaces Agu as Eagles line-up gets clearer
Ogenyi Onazi and goalkeeper Dan Akpeyi are likely the only changes to be seen from the game against Togo as the Super Eagles step out on Saturday against thebafana Bafana of South Africa. The much celebrated match will hold in Uyo in the south-south region of Nigeria as one of the 2019 African Nations Cup qualifying match, Extrasportsnigeria.com reports.
The list appears to be retention of the team that featured against Togo during the tour of France less than a fortnight ago by Gernot Rohr. The minor changes likely to be seen will be Mikel Agu stepping down much more experienced Onazi and the FC IfeanyiUbah goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa off for Akpeyi.
The game has been on the front burner as the South Africans are hoping to end a poor run of no win against Nigeria in any competitive game, as their only win came in a friendly game in 2004. But their last encounter in Uyo was quite an unpleasant one for Nigeria as the 2-2 result denied Nigeria a place in the 2015 African cup.
Rohr has an hundred percent run so far with Nigeria and he is facing Baxter who only returned as the Bafana coach last month with this game as his first competitive match. The South Africans arrived in Lagos on Wednesday and continued to Uyo on Thursday.
