Italian club, Napoli have confirmed that Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has tested positive for Coronavirus.
Napoli confirmed the condition of the player on New Year day via an official Twitter message.
Osimhen was subjected to the compulsory Covid-19 PCR test on Thursday which came out positive. The Super Eagles attacker had been in Nigeria for the Christmas celebration.
Napoli tweeted: “The club can confirm that Victor Osimhen has tested positive for COVID-19 following his return to Italy.
“Osimhen is currently asymptomatic and has not come into contact with the rest of the squad.”
Osimhen has been out of action since he sustained injury to his shoulder, during the Nigeria versus Sierra Leone 2021 AFCON qualifier played in Benin City last November.
In the Italian league his last outing side was also in November when he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win at Bologna.
