The coach of Sand Eagles on Wednesday said his players were ready to face Egypt or any other team when the 2016 CAF Beach Soccer championship kicks off.
The event is scheduled to kick off from December 13 and will end on the 18th at the Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island, Lagos. Nigeria will play Egypt in their opening game.
Ejo told reporters in Lagos, “We are ready for Egypt, we are facing them first, the first match is very important as it sets the tone for the other matches.
“We are in high spirit, our players have shown seriousness and commitment and they have the right attitude towards this competition.”
The manager indicated he was yet to pick his final team.
“All my players deserve to play in the first team,” he said.
About 23 players from various clubs in the Nigeria Professional League have in the Badagry camp – a suburb of Nigeria’s financial capital, Lagos – since November 14. The winner and the first runners-up will represent Africa at the 9th FIFA Beach Soccer Tournament in Nassau, Bahamas from April 27 to May 7, 2017.
The Sand Eagles have won the CAF beach soccer tournament twice in 2007 and 2009, while Madagascar won the 2015 edition in Seychelles.
