Zenith Women’s League lands in Asaba
The Nigeria Basketball Federation has confirmed that the Zenith Bank Women’s League will tip off in Asaba, Delta State in the South-South region of Nigeria as scheduled. It is the start of the third phase of the league holding in the 13th year, Extrasportsnigeria.com reports.
Twelve teams from the 18 that participated in the first and second phases in Abuja and Kaduna respectively are expected to arrive in Asaba on Wednesday for the tournament which runs from June 22 to 27.
The NBBF announced that the tournament will be preceded by a technical meeting on Wednesday ahead of the Thursday jump ball.
The statement read, “Attendance at the technical meeting is essential for all teams as the seeding and groupings would be done at this meeting.”
The women’s league follows the men’s Kwese League All Star game held in Kano on Saturday. Savannah Conference team defeated their Atlantic Conference side 115-106.
In the Slam Dunk contest, Ibe Agu of Gombe Bulls beat the other contestants; Apara Akita of Bauchi Nets won the 3 points shoot-out while the Skills Challenge was won by Kevin Pam of Plateau Peaks. The MVP award went to Kano Pillars’ Abdul Yahaya.
