States, Academies and Tennis Clubs across the nation are taking full advantage of the Sapetro Futures Tennis Championship, which served off at the Mainland Tennis Club in the National Stadium Lagos on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, to showcase the emerging junior talents from their various programs.
The Sapetro Futures Championship, one of the flagship tournaments on the Nigerian tennis calendar, features competitions in six categories: boys and girls 12s, 14s & 16s.
One of the most outstanding performances of the day was from 10-year-old Mariam Bello from Kwara, who played a very composed and consistent match to defeat Venus Babalola, her 11-year-old opponent from Ibadan, 9-5.
In the Boys 12, Isaac Blue from Oyo State beat Tade Agunbiade from the Calabar Sports Club 9-4 to brighten his chances of going through the round robin stage.
All the players, according to the International Tennis Academy, organisers of the tournament, will play three matches in their round robin groups to determine qualifiers for the semi-finals scheduled for Friday.
The finals are scheduled for Saturday at the same venue beginning at 12 noon.
