Abia Comets FC Coach, Ifeanyi Ukaiwe, has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for the 2026/27 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, insisting that the boys are physically fit, mentally prepared and highly motivated ahead of its opening Southern Conference B Matchday 1 encounter against Bayelsa United in Yenagoa this weekend.
Speaking during the team’s training session on Friday, the coach highlighted the team’s level of preparation, noting that the players have demonstrated encouraging commitment and determination throughout their pre-season programme.
But further expressed confidence in the players’ ability to remain focused and approach the new campaign with the right mentality.
“Of course, we have prepared ourselves and are ready for the start of the season. I believe we’ve done all the necessary preparations tactically to get the boys ready for the challenge ahead of this season.”
The former Right2Win Sports Club handler revealed that the performance of the team would be better and expressed hope of a positive result against Bayelsa United this Sunday.
“We know that it is not going to be an easy game; playing away from home against a side like Bayelsa United is going to be a difficult game. But we are ready for the challenge; if we maintain our game plan tactically, I believe we will get a positive result.
“Of course we are looking forward to the game because I believe in the team and the players we have. So let’s hope that things go well for us on Sunday.”
