●Shooting Stars beat Inter Lagos 2-1
The Nigeria Football Federation on Friday appointed Dr Ayo Abdulrahaman as the Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). This comes on the day the new season kicked off with the star match at the Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan between Nigeria’s CAF Confederation Cup flag-bearers, Shooting Stars, and newly promoted Inter Lagos FC. Shooting Stars celebrated their new sponsorship deals with a 2-1 win to kick off the season. Abdulrahaman, who holds a doctoral degree in sports administration, comes into office with extensive experience and a deep understanding of football organisation and administration, having worked across various Leagues. NFF’s interim General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, said Abdulrahaman’s appointment arises following the directive on Thursday, 27th August, to all Board Members and Chief Executive Officers of the various Leagues, as well as the Chief Operating Officers who are not members of NFF Staff, to vacate their positions. Abdulrahaman’s appointment is with immediate effect, the NFF stated.
