Abia Comets have made a major managerial change, appointing former Right2Win Sports Club head coach Ifeanyi Ukaiwe as the new coach.
The club also confirmed Ugochukwu Umunnakwe as the Assistant coach.
The Chairman of the club, Chief Boniface Alozie Uche, while introducing the new coach and his Assistant at the Club House In Umuahia. expressed Optimism that they are the right people alongside other coaches in the Technical crew to work together as a team.
Chief Boniface used the occasion to charge other coaches in the technical crew, who were present during the event, to work with them as the team continues preparations ahead of the 2026/27 football season.
The new coach, Ifeanyi Ukaiwe, while speaking shortly after the Unveiling, revealed that it is going to be a joint force with everyone at the club, but expressed that his personal goal is to make the team one of the most competitive and strongest sides in the NNL.
“I want to use this medium to thank the chairman, Chief Boniface Alozie Uche, and everyone working with Abia Comets, who are presently here,” Ukaiwe said.
“Yes, I strongly believe that we have all it takes to make it a great season. My personal goals and why I joined this club is to take the team to the next level.”
Abia Comets will begin the new football campaign on the road, with a trip to Yenagoa to take on Bayelsa United, in a Southern Conference B Matchday 1 opener on Saturday, 7 November, 2026.
