Nasarawa United Head Coach, Mangut Mbwas, has expressed his disappointment over the team’s performance in their 3-1 defeat away to Barau FC. The match was played on Sunday, in a Matchday 1 encounter in the 2026/27 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League season.

The Former Plateau United manager believes that the team played well but were unlucky not to get a positive result.

While speaking shortly after the encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, Mangut insisted that they were unlucky not to have utilised the goal opportunities they created in the game.

He said, “My wards played better, but were unlucky to score from the avalanche of opportunities we had.

“It’s definitely not the way to start the new season, but we will analyse our mistakes, regroup, and bounce back stronger in the next game.”

The solid Miners will be hoping to get back to winning ways this weekend, when they play host to Bendel Insurance in their first home game of the season, at the Lafia Township Stadium, on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
