The Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Basketball Federation, Dr Lanre Glover, has assured stakeholders and the basketball world of a free and fair election to produce a new Executive Board on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Glover gave the assurance while speaking with sports journalists in Abuja on Sunday. He said all contestants would be given equal opportunities in accordance with the federation’s constitution.

The former President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria explained that the Electoral Committee would operate “strictly within its jurisdiction as defined by the federation’s statutes and established electoral procedures.”

He added that electoral processes at national, continental and international levels are governed by specific rules that must be followed to ensure transparency and credibility.

Glover told the media in Abuja that the committee had reviewed the documents submitted by the presidential aspirants and would announce the names of the qualified candidates.

Five aspirants filed their forms for the NBBF presidency, but the committee had cleared only three candidates by the weekend while Mark Ogoche was given an opportunity to complete his documentation on Monday.

The candidates cleared to contest are Olumide Oyedeji, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi and Ejike Ugboaja
