The Nigeria Basketball Federation has released a timetable for the October 2026 elections to its Executive Board.

The NBBF announced that following approval of the electoral process by the Extraordinary Congress held on September 26, 2026, in Yola, Adamawa State, the Electoral Committee has now released guidelines, timelines, and modalities for the elections, scheduled to hold on October 15, 2026, in Abuja.

The statement made available to Extrasportsnigeria.com reads in part, “Extraordinary Congress approved and set up a seven-man Electoral Committee led by Dr. Lanre Glover, and a three-man Appeals Committee.

“The Elections into the new Executive Board of the NBBF shall be witnessed by a Representative of FIBA, a representative of NOC, and a Representative of NSC.

“In consonance with Article 21 of the NBBF Statutes 2019, the composition of the NBBF Executive Board shall include the President, Vice-President, 6 other zonal members, and the Referees and Coaches Association.

“Others include Representative of players union, Representative of Military/Paramilitary, Representative of Corporate Sponsors, Representative of Continental/International Boards, NAWIS Representative, and NAPHER Representative.”

NBBF Elections timelines:

1.Inauguration of Electoral and Appeal Committees (26,September, 2026);

2.Collection of Nomination Forms by all contestants(27, September, 2026);

3.Return of completed Nomination forms(6th-7th,October, 2026);

4. Screening, clearance and release of names of cleared candidates (8th-9th, October, 2026);

5. Date for the election of other affiliate bodies (7th-14th October, 2026)

6. Players’ Representatives Elections (12th October, 2026);

7.Technical Representative Election (13th, October, 2026);

8. Submission of appeals against the decision of the electoral committee (13th, October, 2026)

9. Hearing and release of the decision of the appeals committee, which is final (14th, October, 2026).

10. 2026 NBBF Elective Congress.
